Yoga for the Special Child & Adult
Hatha based yoga designed specifically for infants, children, and adults with special needs. Located in the south hills of Pittsburgh, sessions are tailored so that each individual can realize their potential and experience a sense of accomplishment as well as have fun.
Yoga is a gradual practice which is very adaptable and gentle, suitable for every special need or physical limitation. Infants, children, and adults with Down's Syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism as well as other challenges can benefit from a yoga practice. The Yoga for the Special Child Method, designed by Sonia Sumar, is the basis of each yoga session. This method was designed to enhance development of gross and fine motor skills, communication as well as improvement of body awareness, breath capacity, movement, and flexibility.
