Session Information
Yoga provides a wonderful way for children and adults to explore their bodies, hearts, and minds, giving them the resources to lead a happier, healthier life.
Yoga is a very adaptable and gentle practice which includes 5 components that are beneficial to overall health and well being. Each session includes chanting, eye exercises, breathing practice, asanas (yoga postures), and deep relaxation. Chanting helps concentration, works on oral motor ability, strengthens the diaphragm, and brings awareness to the lungs. Eye exercise improves concentration, coordinates vision, and enhances peripheral vision. Breathing practice (pranayama) can be as simple as taking a full breath. Breathing practice brings awareness to the diaphragm, can increase tidal volume of the lungs, and can be very calming. Asanas (yoga postures) stretch and strengthen muscles, improve balance, assist with digestion, coordinate body and mind, as well as increase body awareness. Last, deep relaxation is calming to the mind and the body allowing for the integration of the entire practice.
Sessions are held on an individual basis to start. The initial session is at no cost. I spend time getting to know the student as well as introducing them to and allowing them to experience the different aspects of the yoga class. After this session, I will suggest the appropriate class length which will give the student a successful and engaging experience.
